CrossFit Games 2021 have arrived and many CrossFit Games 2021 competitors are thrilled. Apart from the usual men's and ladies' competitions, there will be some women's events. We have all heard about the women's competition, the Pegboard contest, the Cutting system, and Reebok's equipment, but do you know what to expect? Keep reading to find out! Women are competing

The swim event was the start of the women's division at the 2021 Crossfit Games. Jonne Koski, Tia-Clair Toomey Orr, and TiaClair Toomey Orr were the winners in the first event. Koski won the overall competition after maintaining her lead all the way. Tall and Eramooo O’Connell came second and three respectively. It was the first Games event by women. The women's side wanted to complete the podium.

The women’s competition is populated with high-level competitors. Nine athletes are represented in the field, including a young Australian powerhouse who won last year's competition. Kara Saunders (Australian athlete) finished second in Australia. She was also eleventh worldwide for 2020. Andrea Nisler is another rising star. She competed in the team category in 2018 and placed third in the United States, and 15th overall in 2020. The Women's competition will feature these athletes as well as Sara Sigmundsdottir (an Icelandan competitor who won the first place medal at World Crossfit Games earlier last year).

Pegboard contest

The Pegboard contest at the Crossfit Games 2021 was a first. The Games added it to their summer Olympic program, along with double-unders (dumbbell overhead squats) and pegboard. Toomey-Orr won 30 of the Games' most events, setting a new record. Sager won Event 11 men's and received his third Games win. There were many ties throughout the contest, but ToomeyOrr was the dominant force that won the contest.

CrossFit Games is a training program that focuses on 10 general fitness skills. These include strength, flexibility, power and speed as well as cardiovascular endurance. Pegboard is a contest that tests competitor's grip strength as well as coordination. Two wooden pegs are held between the hands of each competitor to gauge their grip strength. The competition was fierce and the athletes felt a sense accomplishment after finishing the Pegboard.


Cutting system

The CrossFit Games will once again employ a cutting system for the individual competition. While it's not as extreme or drastic as in previous Games, this year is very different. It consists of 15 events so 30 athletes could be reduced after the seventh and eighth events. CrossFit's decision on how to adjust the points distributed after cuts remains a question. The scoring table used during the 2019 games was almost identical to that used in 2021. It is likely that this will continue.

This year's CrossFit Games Field includes 236 athletes. This is the largest field in its history. The six first events lead to major cuts. The field then drops to 75 athletes. To determine the top ten, the top 30 athletes compete in a sprint tandem. The top 20 competitors then compete for the remaining six events. Castro's system was strongly criticised by former Games participants, who felt that cuts were too substantial.

Reebok's equipment

Reebok announces new CrossFit Games clothing, shoes and other equipment. The Nano X1 shoes are the new model. They can be used for multiple fitness goals. Reebok describes this shoe as the "shoe of fitness", but it actually feels more like an ordinary training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar upper promotes breathability while ensuring durability. CrossFit's contract with Reebok will expire at the end 2020. The Games will no longer have a title sponsor. The company will no longer call itself the "Reebok CrossFit Game", as it currently does.
